While it’s rare to run across someone who consciously wants to make the world a worse place, plenty of us – maybe most of us – are doing things that preclude diversity and exclude the ‘other’. In this pre-recorded session, contributing authors from edited volumes Getting Real About Race and Getting Real About Inequality answer questions that impact everyday people struggling to do better. The authors answer questions such as how unconscious bias contributes to systemic racism, in the work space, social environment, & family? How does society play a role in racist stereotypes and provide pre-judgement against different cultures? How can people in non-diverse communities best expose themselves to other cultures? And for those in already marginalized communities, what should be rules of engagement when approached to contribute to this conversation?
